THE BUZZ: Canadian studio Silicon Knights confirmed rumors of staff cuts, but also teased a future project it is working on for the next generation.

The studio confirmed the recent rumors its workforce had been cut down to just 25 people following massive layoffs. ”Last week Silicon Knights experienced layoffs due to extended contract negotiations falling through with a potential partner,” a spokesperson told Kotaku.

The spokesperson also revealed that the studio is, ”refocusing and returning to its roots, working on one of its most requested titles for the next generation.”

EGM’s TAKE: This title could be one of two franchises, The Legacy of Kain or Eternal Darkness. Either would be welcomed with open arms.
