Left 4 Winchester is a Left 4 Dead campaign based around some of the events of Shaun of the Dead. While the team building the mod worry about legal issues, their work has received the blessing of a very powerful voice.

As noted on G4 TV’s website, plans by the team are to create locations such as Shaun’s Pad, Mum’s House, Liz’s Flat, To the Winchester, and Survive the Winchester. However, the team—thought not directly threatened with legal action by anyone—are worried such threats may indeed come down due to the work.

There’s one person who loves the idea, and hopes such legal issues won’t come up: Shaun of the Dead star and co-writer Simon Pegg. After seeing plans for the mod, Pegg said the following on Twitter:

This would be absolutely awesome! The rights belong to Universal but we will do what we can.

See, this is how the world should work: fans doing things out of love—not out of hope for profit—and having those efforts supported instead of stopped.
