According to the Financial Times, former Sony president and CEO Howard Stringer announced Friday his plans to retire as Sony’s chairman in June.
Stringer made this announcement during a Japan Society lecture Friday, declaring that upon retiring he planned to pursue “new opportunities I’ve been presented with lately.”
In February 2012, Stringer passed on the mantle of Sony president and CEO to Kaz Hirai, and then became the company’s chairman of the board of directors in June.
