The upcoming re-release of Skullgirls, Skullgirls Encore, will feature a brand new mode called “The Typing of the Skullgirls,” lead programmer Mike Zaimont recently announced.
In “Typing of the Skullgirls,” each player’s super attack gauge fills as normal, but once it gets the top they will be tasked with typing an on-screen word before they can use it. If the word is typed correctly, the attack will do 1.5 times the damage. If typed “right but not perfect,” it will do normal damage, and if you get it completely wrong the attack will do 10 percent less damage. This new mode is not available online or in Tournament mode. Players must also type in a word when the opponent uses a super move, with the totals reversed.
Skullgirls Encore is set to release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in January 2014. The original Skullgirls is set to be removed from XBLA and PSN on December 31, after the publishing deal between Autumn Games and Konami ended.
