Skyrim 1.7 Patch Getting A Steam Test Before Moving To PS3, Xbox 360

Posted on July 23, 2012 AT 12:56pm

PlayStation 3 owners have been waiting a long time for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to get its fair share of updates and patches, and the wait is finally coming to a close. Although a console date isn’t nailed down quite yet, Bethesda has released Skyrim‘s 1.7 update, which is currently available to download in the Steam Store.

Specifically, the 1.7 patch is a massive band-aid and enhancer for Kinect-enabled voice commands. General accuracy for different dragon shouts and other vocal cues should be greatly improved, and the feature even supports a few different languages.

Here’s the quick list from Bethesda about what changes you can expect in the update:

  • General memory and stability optimizations
  • Fixed crash related to new water shaders
  • Fixed rare crash related to dragon landings
  • Fixed logic error with loading screens from add-ons (Xbox 360)
  • Using vampiric grip and swimming no longer prevents swimming animation from playing afterwards
  • Improved recognition with Kinect voice commands (Xbox 360)
  • Kinect-enabled dragon language shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish work properly (Xbox 360)
  • Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish (Xbox 360)

Mounted combat, which has noticeably been absent from the PlayStation 3 version of game, will also be updated in the eventual console version of patch.

Everything else that was missed in Skyrim‘s 1.6 update will be fixed for the PS3 console as well, along with a lot of “kill cam” adjustments and damage tweaks. Until you get the newest patch, just don’t go underwater.
