THE BUZZ: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is already a successful game—but just how successful is nothing short of amazing.

We already knew that Skyrim sold 3.5 million copies in its first 48 hours on store shelves, but today, we’ve learned of another feat the game has accomplished. With the release of sales data for November, stat-tracking group NPD has announced that Skyrim is now within 500,000 of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion‘s lifetime sale. Yes, indeed—in less than two months, Skyrim has sold almost as many copies as its previous game sold in over five year’s time.

EGM’s TAKE: No matter if you’re a Skyrim fan or not, you’ve got to admit that this is an amazing accomplishment for the game. The question now is, how many copies total will Skyrim go on to sell?
