THE BUZZ: Square-Enix has announced the official release date for its upcoming open-world action game, Sleeping Dogs, previously known as True Crime: Hong Kong.
The game will launch for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 14 in the U.S., and three days later in Europe.
A limited edition of the game will also be available alongside the standard Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. The bonuses include:
George St. Pierre (GSP) DLC
- GSP’s signature “flying punch”
- Exclusive GSP outfit including T-shirts, headband and shorts
- The GSP outfit unlocks the “flying punch” and increases grappling and throwing damage
Police Protection’ DLC
- Exclusive “High Speed” Mission
- Exclusive HK Police SWAT Outfit
- Exclusive assault rifle
- Exclusive SWAT Police Vehicle
A Digital Deluxe PC version of the game will be announced at a later date.
EGM’s TAKE: We’ve got high hopes for Sleeping Dogs, mainly because it’s come back from the brink of despair and managed to make it all the way to release, thanks to Square-Enix. The game looks solid enough, and we’re still baffled as to why Activision let it go. The True Crime series has a lot of fans and this latest entry should make them all very happy. As a quick note, the word “exclusive” in front of that bonus content probably means that it won’t be offered as paid for DLC at a later date, so if you want it we suggest you get yourself a copy of the limited edition.
Are you excited for the game? Will you bother with the limited edition? Let us know in the comments below.
