At a press conference in London, England today, Sony announced plans to release a slim version of the PlayStation Vita in the U.K. on February 7.

The PS Vita PCH-2000 series will have a suggested retail price of £180 and features a redesigned look that is 20 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than current models. This new release will replace the existing PS Vita PCH-1000 models, which will no longer be available once existing stock has been sold.

This new model includes a HD five-inch LCD screen, has a battery that supports up to six hours of play, and utilizes a micro USB charging cable.

Sony released the PS Vita PCH-2000 model in Japan back in October, and it is available to pre-order in the U.K. from today. No details were offered regarding a North American release.
