THE BUZZ: An unfinished version of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 was accidentally made available to download on Steam this weekend.
The version released still contained a lot of bugs and several missing textures. Steam quickly pulled the game and all mention of it was removed from Sega’s official forums. Several members who had a chance to play the game before it was pulled posted their impressions on another Sonic forum.
The official release date for the game is May 15 on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC.
EGM’s TAKE: This leak could actually prove to be a really good thing for Sega. Almost every comment regarding the leaked version of the game was positive, they of course looked past the obvious bugs and texture issues. Several members said that Sonic 4 felt like a return to the older games, something that fans have been requesting for many years. With this leaked copy getting such good reviews, more fans may be swayed into buying the full version when it releases next month.
