THE BUZZ: In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega set out to create Sonic Generations, a game that bring together classic Sonic with the more modern Sonic in an adventure the two of them must overcome together.

For the European release of Sonic Generations, lucky Sonic fans will be getting a Collector’s Edition that includes:

  • A collectable figurine of both versions of Sonic
  • An exclusive individually numbered “Gold Ring”
  • An art book looking back at the 20 years of Sonic (containing never before seen sketches and images)
  • A 20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack with tracks picked by Sonic Team
  • A “History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon” documentary. In addition to all of that, a code for additional downloadable content for the game will also be included.

EGM’s TAKE: I’ve never been much into collector’s editions, but I’m glad they exist for those who do enjoy them. Personally, if I were to buy a collector’s edition, I’d prefer actual content over trinkets and toys, so this Sonic Generations package is pretty good in that regard. The question now is, of course, if other territories (such as North America) will get a similar offer. Europe has really been getting a lot of great special editions lately.
