The Sonic Team is determined to bring back the glory days with announcement of yet another Sonic project by the name of Project Sonic 2017.

The game’s debut trailer, recently posted to the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel, shows the spikey blue mammal facing down a new cataclysmic threat. A younger version of Sonic makes an appearance in the trailer to save the day, suggesting that old and new Sonic will be teaming up again as they did in Sonic Generations.

Project Sonic 2017 is slated to launch sometime during Holiday 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is even confirmed to be showing up on Nintendo’s unrevealed NX console. If this isn’t enough Sonic for fans, a 25th anniversary release titled Sonic Mania was also announced, which brings the games back to their 2D roots with both new and classic content.
