Sony Banking On New Super Fast Processor For Playstation 4

Posted on May 29, 2011 AT 06:19am

Sony appear to be pinning all of their hopes for the PlayStation 4 on a brand new super fast cell processor.

SmartHouse has been told that Sony is working on a brand new processor with IBM who were the original architect of Sony’s Cell Processor which has been used by Sony for years.

Sources at IBM claim that their new multi-core PowerPC processor which has been in development for several years is now a join project between IBM and Sony.

According to IBM leaks the new processor is twice as fast as the current processor in use and Sony are planning on mass producing the new processor once it is ready.

Sony are yet to comment on the possibility of using the new processor.
