THE BUZZ: If you’re getting a Vita on launch day, then the changes Sony announced today may mean you’ll be getting more for your money.

EGM’s TAKE: Well now, this is interesting. As we lead up to the launch of the PlayStation Vita, Sony has suddenly announced that they’ll be sweetening the deal on two of the three versions that’ll be available. Could they be sweatin’ a little?

First up is the PS Vita First Edition Bundle—aka that bundle that’ll get you the Vita one week early. Previously, that pack included the 3G/WiFi Vita, a limited edition case, a 4GB memory card, and Little Deviants. Now, those getting that pack will also get an AT&T DataConnect Session Pass—which will get you one free 250MB session of 3G internet—and a voucher for a free game from the PlayStation store (worth $10).

The PS Vita First Edition Bundle will still retail for $349.99.

Far more interesting, however, is that Sony is also beefing up the standard 3G/WiFi version of the Vita. Now, with that system, you’ll get an 8GB memory card, the AT&T DataConnect Session Pass, and the free PSN game—all for the original $299 price tag.

Really, looking at these two revised packs, I can’t imagine why I’d go with the First Edition bundle at this point. Wait a week, and you get a pack that seems like a much better value.

Seeing as how I had the 3G/WiFi model pre-ordered, normally I would say that this is exciting news for me personally. However, I myself have decided to switch over to the WiFi-only model, and use that $50 different to help pay off a 32GB memory card. For those of you sticking with the 3G model, though, your purchase just got quite a bit sweeter.
