The attacks on Sony came with warnings, threats were issued and yet Sony still got hit by them.
Sony CEO Howard Stringer has said that he didn’t believe there was any lack of vigilance on Sony’s part but he personally wasn’t aware of the threats.
“Obviously our network security didn’t stop the attack and we’re trying
to understand why, and we’ve made big strides in bolstering our
security,”
He said that due to the PlayStation Network being a free service he didn’t feel that the theft of passwords and personal data was very likely.
“We have a network that gave people services free, It didn’t seem like the likeliest place for an attack.”
The question is has Sony actually learnt its lesson this time?
