Sony Confirms Online Real Name Use for PlayStation 4 Launch

Sony has confirmed that players will be able to display their real name on the PlayStation Network when the PlayStation 4 launches next month.

Microsoft recently announced that its planned real name feature had been delayed until after the console’s launch and that players will only be able to display their Gamertags online come November. Sony has since confirmed that no such delay will affect PlayStation 4 owners, who will be given the option to either display their real name or their unique PSN ID while online.

Sony reassured players that this is a completely optional feature, and even if you choose to use your real name on your profile you can still play online games using nicknames/aliases if you wish. PlayStation 4 is set to launch November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe.
