Sony Confirms U.S. PSN Downtime This Week

THE BUZZ: Sony Computer Entertainment America has confirmed that the U.S. PlayStation Network will be suffering downtime this week.
“PlayStation Network will undergo a significant maintenance period on Thursday, March 1. Maintenance is expected to start at just after 8:00 am Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 10pm Pacific,” confirms SCEA.
This falls in line with the European downtime announced last week.
The PlayStation Store, customer account management and account registration will all be unavailable. Anyone online at the start of the maintenance will be booted off.
EGM’s TAKE: It’s good that this maintenance doesn’t occur too often or there would be a lot of angry people knocking on Sony’s door demanding some answers. It’s bad that the service goes down for so long, but at least it’s not at a peak gaming time. You still have all weekend to enjoy online play. One thing though, as a note to Sony. Three hours is several, 14 hours is much more than several.
