Sony Fails to Stop PlayStation Vita Hackers

THE BUZZ: Sony is fighting a losing battle against PlayStation Vita hackers, after another attempt to block them has apparently failed.

The platform holder reacted quickly to several back door hacks that appeared on the handheld using MotorStorm Arctic Edge and Hot Shots Tennis, by removing them from the PlayStation Store. They also released patch 1.67 for the system to remove these exploits.

However, hackers claim to have already cracked the 1.67 firmware, and are loading homebrew on to the handheld via an unnamed PSP game.

EGM’s TAKE: The hackers are playing things a little safer and smarter this time around by not mentioning the name of the PSP game used. This is going to make things double hard for Sony, not only do they have to find a way to stop this latest exploit, but they also have to locate the game in question. Hackers will always be one step ahead, however Sony has a good track record with stopping them when it comes to pirated software, especially on the PlayStation 3.
