Sony Has “No Definitive Plans” For The Future of the Resistance Series

Resistance: Burning Skies has just hit for the PlayStation Vita, but that might be all that fans of the series will be getting for the foreseeable future.
“We have no definitive plans” was the response that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s online produce Daniel Brooke told Official PlayStation Magazine UK when they asked Brooke where he’d like to see the series go.
Now, really—that’s one small comment from one person, so it doesn’t mean the end of the world for the franchise. Unfortunately, it’s a piece of a much bigger puzzle. I absolutely love Resistance 3, and play it constantly to this day—but its sales numbers weren’t so hot. As well, there doesn’t seem to be a huge level of excitement built up around Resistance‘s debut on the Vita. And, of course, there’s the fact that series creator Insomniac Games has now moved on to other things.
My advice? Give the Resistance series some time off, put some thought into how to make the games fresh and exciting again, and reveal some awesome new project a couple years into the launch of the PlayStation 4.
