THE BUZZ: Sony has today hired a former Director of the US National Cyber Security Center to help improve the protection of the PSN.

Philip Retinger has been brought in to head up Sony’s security efforts after the PSN breach in April. His official title will be Senior Vice President Of Security and he will report to Sony General Counsel Nicole Seligman.

A Sony Spokeperson told Reuters;

“Certainly the network issue was a catalyst for the appointment, we are looking to bolster our network security even further.”

EGM’s TAKE: It’s good to see Sony being proactive in regards to their protection promise and I’m sure the appointment will strengthen peoples faith in the console.
