Subscriptions to Sony’s PlayStation Plus service almost doubled during the week of E3, according to SCEA’s senior director of PlayStation digital platforms Jack Buser.
He suggests that the reason for this sudden uptake was the announcement of the Instant Game Collection, which gives PlayStation Plus subscribers instant access to 12 big-name games for weeks at a time at no extra charge. Games such as LittleBigPlanet 2 and inFamous 2 have been offered so far.
It appears that the PlayStation Store also enjoyed a nice sales increase during E3 with it logging its highest “transactional sales” quarter during the months of April to June.
