Posting on Kotaku, domain bloodhound Superannuation reports Sony has privately registered domains for The Last of Us 2 and 3.
Sony’s American division, SCEA, registered “lastofus2.com” and “lastofus3.com,” hinting not only at a continuation of the yet released action-adventure survival game, but perhaps even a planned trilogy.
While The Last of Us is supposed to be narratively self-contained, it’s no surprise that Sony would want to turn their latest exclusive IP into a franchise. Personally, I don’t mind sequels—so long as they’re simply set in the same world as the original game and not a direct continuation.
It’s also more than likely that these continuations will be PS4 exclusives.
Sony also registered a series of domains for something on the PS4 titled The Order: 1866, grabbing up the dot com, dot net, “theorderps4.com,” and “theorderps4.net.”
The Last of Us launches exclusively on PlayStation 3 June 14 worldwide.
