A new Sony app is released—but for the Xbox 360? Has the world gone crazy? Have we stepped into some alternate universe where cats and dogs are living together in unholy bliss?

Well, actually, it’s not quite that dramatic. The new app is from Sony Pictures, and will give you access to content from the major Hollywood studio. So, it’s nothing to do with the PlayStation side of Sony, and thus not really any sort of “sleeping with the enemy” kind of deal.

Although—does the PS3 have a Sony Pictures app? I’m not sure if it needs one or not—all that relevant content might already filter down through the PlayStation Store—as I’ve not been able to check out this new Xbox App yet. If this content isn’t in some way offered on the PS3, however, you’ve got to admit that’s a little silly.

The Sony Pictures app can now be downloaded from the Apps Marketplace under the Apps tab of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. An Xbox Live Gold membership is required to use it.
