THE BUZZ: Sony has announced that they sold 3.9 million PlayStation 3 consoles during November and December.

This means that the company is on track to hit its 15 million consoles sold mark by the end of the fiscal year on March 31. Sony released the following statement:

“SCE will continue to deploy various measures to further expand the PlayStation business with strong support from users as well as 3rd party developers and publishers, and will vigorously enhance the world of computer entertainment system that is possible only on the PlayStation platforms.”

EGM’s TAKE: The price drop and Christmas buzz probably helped Sony a lot, but this is still an impressive figure with the economy in its current state.
