Sony will add archiving to its Twitch integration on PlayStation 4 “in the future,” the company informed Joystiq.

On PC, Twitch livestreams are automatically saved for later editing. On PlayStation 4—at least, right now—Twitch streams are live only and can’t be recorded or shared for later use. The option to incorporate archiving, Twitch vice president of marketing Matthew DiPietro told Joystiq, is entirely up to their partners to decide to implement.

“We find archiving to be an exciting part of the broadcast experience, especially since broadcasters and their viewers love to be able to revisit and share some of their most memorable moments,” DiPietro told Joystiq. “It’s up to our partners to determine if it’s a feature set they want to offer as part of their Twitch integration, so we encourage them to keep this functionality top of mind.”

Sony did not offer a timeframe for when this feature would be added into the PS4 Twitch app.
