THE BUZZ: Namco Bandai has announced that Soul Calibur V is set to receive a new balance patch this month.
It will be released March 21 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The patch offers re-balances to various characters, gameplay tweaks – based on fan feedback - and optimizes the online ranked match search.
The patch will be followed by monthly DLC costume packs for use in the game’s Creation mode. The first pack is due out April 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
EGM’s TAKE: There’s nothing more important in a fighting game than balance, if one character turns out to be more powerful than the rest then the online competitive side is ruined. Certain character have already surfaced in Soul Calibur V and the development team will be looking to even things out quickly. Nobody wants another Hilda situation from Soul Calibur IV, for those that are unaware she was banned from tournaments for being to over powered.
