Soul Calibur V – Three DLC Packs Announced

THE BUZZ: Namco Bandai has announced three DLC packs for Soul Calibur V.

The packs will be available on the European launch day of February 3, then on February 14, and finally on February 28, each priced at 160 Microsoft Points or $1.99. Pack details:

  • Pack 1: Launch Day February 3rd – Nine exotic customization items including bikinis, wings and face paints. Original music from Soul Blade and SOULCALIBUR (tracks also available individually for $.99 or 80MS points)
  • Pack 2: Valentine’s Day February 14th – Nine fearsome customization items including breast plate, kimono and animal heads. Original music from SOULCALIBUR II and III (tracks also available individually for $.99 or 80MS points)
  • Pack 3: February 28th – Nine exclusive customization items including mask, face paint, camouflage and skull. Original music from SOULCALIBUR IV and SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny (tracks also available individually for $.99 or 80MS points)

EGM’s TAKE: That’s a lot of neat customization extras in just the first month of release, especially with the likes of new armor, bikinis and wings. The price is decent also, just $1.99 each should provoke a fair few impulse purchases on day one. The most interesting part of each pack has to be the additional music tracks, who wouldn’t want to beat people up to the old sounds of Soul Calibur? At $0.99 a piece how can you say no? Soul Calibur V already offers more customization than any previous fighting game, so to add more pieces can only strengthen this position, you can basically create anything. The worry is if Namco will keep up this DLC schedule or whether this is just an opening burst.

Is the DLC worth the money? Leave a comment below.
