SoulCalibur: Lost Swords, Namco Bandai’s free-to-play fighting game, will release this spring for PlayStation 3, the publisher has announced.
This seasonal release window is for Europe and Australasia, with no word on a North American release at the moment. The game should be available in Japan from today.
“SoulCalibur: Lost Swords reinvents the world-renowned weapons-based fighting franchise with a brand new item discovery and forging system as well as elemental-based fighting mechanics,” the publisher explained.
“Special elemental effects such as Wind and Fire will be imbued into weapons scavenged from defeated enemies as well as forged from equipment collected by the player. Players will have to strategize which weapon to take into battle for a successful win.”
Lost Swords is a single-player title, but players will be able to “gather allies from around the world” by accessing friends’ characters for support during battle.
