THE BUZZ: It appears that the Rakghoul plague isn’t the only thing attacking players in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
A large number of users on the game’s official forums are complaining about sound issues while playing. The issues include static hissing noises, complete volume level drops, sounds cutting in and out, voice overs not playing, and being unable to hear Operation audio cues.
The forum post currently spans 27 pages of users posting their various complaints. BioWare has released an emergency patch to fix a “jet engine” sound that was present on the Fleet, however the other issues still remain. The developer issued this message on the forum:
We apologize for the lack of information on this sound issue that you are all experiencing.
We are currently working on a fix for this issue and would like to thank you for your patience.
According to posters these issues were also present during the testing of Patch 1.2 on the Public Test Server before the patch went live.
EGM’s TAKE: In a game where sound is a very important factor issues like this can be game-breaking. Having experienced the issues myself I can safely say that the static noise in Warzones is deafening and really gives you a headache after a while, and the complete lack of sound that follows really destroys any fun you can have. It feels like being cut off from the world, you can see the other players fighting but you can’t hear them. The player base is getting very agitated at the lack of a fix. At least that giant jet has finally taken off from the Fleet, as it made it impossible to stay on there for too long once it started. Hopefully BioWare gets these issues fixed quickly, this isn’t a little bug that can just be ignored.
