South Park Creators Were Urged to Release Cut Content From The Stick of Truth as DLC

Posted on July 19, 2013 AT 09:09am

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of South Park, were urged to release cut content from South Park: The Stick of Truth as DLC, however the pair flat out refused.

“I really loved playing Skyrim, as many people did,” Parker said during a Comic-Con panel. “I was like ‘Let’s do this. This is easy.’”

Parker then went on to reveal that this mindset led to a script that spanned 850 pages and featured ”just about every character” from the South Park universe. When developer Obsidian charted a potential release date based off their ambition it was looking at “holiday season 2032,” Parker joked.

Parker later revealed that the developer kept urging them to ”cut it down, cut it down, cut it down,” and “that everyone kept saying to us [make that extra content] DLC.” This of course brought boos from the crowd to which he replied, ”and I agree… f**k that.”

Parker added, ”Somehow or another,” what was cut from The Stick of Truth will get out there. The obvious choice is via the TV show. ”We did have this whole delusion of actually incorporating the game into the season,” Parker said, “but that sounds like a b**ch. We really just wanted it to be that you could pick it up anywhere and it would kind of make sense.”

The game is due to release later this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
