South Park: The Stick of Truth has been pushed from its recently revealed December 10 release date to a March, 2014 launch, Ubisoft announced today.

According to Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc, the company thought it would be easy to pick up publishing responsibilities from THQ, bolster its development, and get it out the door. Unfortunately, they quickly realized the game would require “a major overhaul” in order to reach the level of quality Ubisoft and series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker wanted from the project.

“We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park,” Stone and Parker said. “Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.”

As such, South Park: The Stick of Truth will now launch on Windows PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 March 4, 2014.
