Spider-Man

While fans already knew the complicated hero Black Cat would be playing a part in Marvel’s Spider-Man, it was unclear how involved she would be in Spidey’s world. In true cat burglar fashion, though, it appears she’ll be robbing the New York City elite.

In the upcoming game’s Daily Bugle Issue #1, an article by the fictional writer Betty Brant teased the criminal acts of Black Cat that players will likely see throughout the game. While the piece doesn’t outright name Black Cat, the culprit who’s been pilfering items from “New York City’s rich and powerful” is “someone familiar with sophisticated home security systems,” which sounds similar to past crimes she’s committed.

To add more evidence to this mysterious person being Black Cat, a “calling card” in the form of a black cat statue was left at each crime scene. Check out the Daily Bugle’s example of the item below.

Whether or not Black Cat will appear in the primary campaign of Marvel’s Spider-Man is unclear, but Game Informer previously announced that the elusive woman would play a role in the post-launch DLC. The City That Never Sleeps will be broken into three chapters, with the first focusing on a heist with Black Cat.

A few more teases about other characters in the upcoming open-world game were made during E3. A new trailer revealed five of the members of Sinister Six that will be hunting down Spider-Man, while the identity of the sixth villain in the crew, presumably the leader, is still a mystery.

Marvel’s Spider-Man will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 on September 7th.
