Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man will be the centerfold topic of Game Informer’s upcoming May issue, and we already know one major piece of info we’ll be getting from the coverage.

The cover story was announced in a preview article by Game Informer‘s executive editor, Andrew Reiner. Reiner recently got the opportunity to get hands-on with the game at developer Insomniac Studios, and May’s issue will share all that he experienced.

The PlayStation Blog article is scant on details about Reiner’s time with the game, but he does promise 14 pages of details in the issue. During his time, he got to play through the first mission of the game, facing off against a “familiar foe”, and then spend some time exploring the city and checking out some of the game’s story details and unlockable content.

The release of the article will kick off a month of Game Informer coverage on the game. The physical May issue of Game Informer drops this Friday, April 6th, but subscribers to Game Informer Digital can check out the issue online as early as tomorrow, April 4th.  Both issues will feature cover art from world renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, which can be checked out below.

Game Informer even chose to grace us with a small clip of the gameplay that was demoed.

If this cover story is anything like the one Game Informer did for God of War, fans should expect the biggest cache of Spider-Man details yet. However, God of War‘s release date was a key piece of information lacking from Game Informer’s coverage. Fortunately, Game Informer has learned of Spider-Man‘s long-awaited (and widely speculated) PS4-exclusive release date. According to an Insomniac Games tweet, the date is confirmed for 2018, and it will be shared as part of this upcoming coverage.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
