In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Spiders Studio project lead Walid Miled shed some light on the French developer’s upcoming “gothic RPG,” specifically focusing on the game’s crafting system.
According to Miled, Bound by Flame‘s crafting encompasses armor, weapons, traps, ammunition, and potions, and—as has become common in the world of action-RPGs—these customizations will affect the look of your in-game character. Crafting is so integral to the game, in fact, that you can enhance your crafting ability and expand the options at your disposal.
“An entire list of talents are dedicated to enhance your efficiency in crafting,” Miled said in the post. “As a master in craftsmanship, you consume fewer materials and create more products. You can even boost the amount of loot you find in chests and on corpses. You cannot carry an unlimited amount of equipment, however. If you reach the weight limit, it affects your movement. But several skills allow the hero to push the limits of his bag capacity, letting you carry more weapons, armor, and materials.”
While Bound by Flame‘s crafting may seem reasonably straightforward, its premise is anything but. According to Spiders Studio, the game “has you playing as a mercenary possessed by a demon in flames” who “must choose between the demonic power within you and your humanity.” The action-RPG is currently slated for a spring 2014 release on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
