It’s almost time for the Inklings to roll out and reclaim their turf. Splatoon 2 now has an official launch date: July 21st.

The date was revealed in the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, which also hinted at a few new things we’ll see in Splatoon‘s sequel.

Perhaps the biggest reveal was Salmon Run, a new game mode that brings PvE to the Splatoon universe. Teams of four must fight in what’s essentially a horde mode, shooing back salmon monsters to retrieve their Power Eggs and return them to a collection point in the center of the map. Nintendo hinted pretty heavily that some special rewards—likely new gear for your Inkling—can be unlocked exclusively through this mode.

Additionally, a new line of Amiibo will launch alongside the game. This new lineup features the Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and Squid Amiibo, though don’t be confused—these figurines are of the short-haired Inkling Girl and neon green-haired Inkling boy from Splatoon 2‘s cover, not the original Inkling Amiibo that have been around for a while.

Tapping these Amiibo will cause the figure to appear in the game and befriend you. Each will unlock a unique outfit. There’s a big secondary benefit, though—the Amiibo will remember your favorite gear and outfits, making it possible to swap clothes quickly or even bring the Amiibo to a friend’s house in order to use your own gear in a different game. The older Splatoon Amiibo lines are also compatible with the game.

Splatoon 2 is a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
