With Splatoon 2 only a few weeks away from its July 21st launch, Nintendo still has more to share on the upcoming paint-splattered shooter. A new Nintendo Direct for Splatoon 2 will take place at 7 a.m. PT on July 6th, 2017 in North America, Europe, and Japan to cover new elements of the game.
Nintendo of America shared the news on Twitter with a photo stating: “Check out some of the new features in the upcoming Nintendo Switch game Splatoon 2.”

The previous Nintendo Direct for the sequel showed off the PvE mode, Salmon Run, which will pit teams of four against a horde of salmon monsters attempting to recover eggs. Three new Amiibo—Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, and Purple Squid—were also introduced to launch alongside the game.
Nintendo has the made the smart move of releasing Splatoon 2 early into the Nintendo Switch’s lifetime, as the first Splatoon was released far past the Wii U’s time in the spotlight. Despite its late release and sad exclusivity to the Wii U, Splatoon still took many players by surprise, combining the tactical challenge of a shooter with a colorfully joyful experience, all available to play alone or with other players online. The Switch is the perfect console to reintroduce the multiplayer strengths of the franchise, as its ability to connect up to eight consoles at once for team-based battles goes hand-in-hand with its mobile ability.
Splatoon 2 launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 21st.
