The upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy has received an impressive number of pre-orders, according to Activision.
During the publisher’s recent first-quarter earnings call, it was revealed the remastered Spyro collection has received more pre-orders than anticipated. In addition, the debut trailer for the game has been viewed “tens of millions” of times.
The strong sales numbers aren’t too shocking, though, as rumors and excitement came months ahead of the collection’s official announcement. Thankfully, with the success of last year’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which was recently announced to launch this summer on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Activision had more of a reason to invest in publishing the Spyro adventures.
Launching on September 21st for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Spyro Reignited Trilogy will include the remastered versions of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Apart from a graphics overhaul, the games will feature updated controls, a new lighting system, and recreated cinematics.
There hasn’t been an official word from Activision that the remasters will launch on Switch or PC, but a recent posting on Nintendo’s website suggested we could see it on Switch at some point. For now, PlayStation 4 players that pre-order the game digitally will receive two bonuses exclusive to the platform.
