THE BUZZ: Winter is the perfect time to stay indoors and enjoy your favorite video games, and Square Enix wants you to do just that with some of their timeless classics.
Today on the official PlayStation Blog, Square Enix product manager Charles McCarter announced release dates for three PS1 Square RPGs hitting the PlayStation Store as digital downloads.
First up will be Chrono Cross, set to be released next week on November 8th. Next up will be Final Fantasy V, coming just before Thanksgiving on November 22nd. And last, but not least, is Final Fantasy VI, which will invade PS3s and PSPs everywhere on December 6th.
EGM’s TAKE: Final Fantasy VI is unquestionably a favorite RPG of mine, but I’ve never played the PS1 version of the game. Is it a good port of the game? I’ll have to find out, because if so, I’d definitely pick this up.
Chrono Cross, however, I indeed played—and in fact, I still own my retail copy to this day. Though very different from Chrono Trigger, the game was really, really good in its own way. A lot of Chrono Trigger fans never ended up giving it a chance, so if you’ve never tried it yourself, I would absolutely recommend it.
