Square-Enix – Final Fantasy Brand Has Been Damaged

THE BUZZ: Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square-Enix, has lamented that the Final Fantasy brand has been severely damaged by the reception of Final Fantasy XIV.

He made the revelation at a Tokyo press conference today stating:

“The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged.”

“We’ll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released.”

Earlier this year the team produced a massive list of planned changes that they hope will bring the game back to what it was originally meant to be.

EGM’s TAKE: The Final Fantasy series is made of tougher stuff and should be able to ride this problem out. Plus, those who play the single-player iterations, understand how different the online iterations are.

Are you happy with Final Fantasy XIV?
