Square Enix Planning ‘A Major Update Every 3 Months’ for Final Fantasy XIV

Posted on August 26, 2013 AT 01:58pm

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will receive “a major update every three months” following its launch, director and producer Naoki Yoshida told PlayStation Blog in an interview.

“We’re planning on doing a major update every three months once the game has been released and continuously adding large-scale content,” Yoshida said. “Ongoing support for the game will be included in the monthly subscription.”

According to Yoshida, they’re already working on the first of those updates, which will introduce “a large-scale housing system” and PvP content called “The Wolves’ Den.”

“There will be a significant update every three months, so everyone will be able to continue enjoying the game for a very long time!” Yoshida added. “Of course, we also have long-term plans to release full expansion packs, so watch out for future updates on those, too.”

A Realm Reborn lunches on PC and PS3 tomorrow, August 27. The game itself costs $39.99 on PS3, $29.99 on PC, and requires a $12.99 monthly subscription free.
