Square Enix has shared a few details about Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s Chocobo Raising system that will be added with patch 2.3 next week.

To access the chocobo stables and begin training your bird you will first need to complete the “Bird in Hand” quest which can be found in the Central Shroud. To start training your Free Company must first purchase a stable and place it in the grounds of the Free Company house, after this all members can stable a chocobo. Chocobos can not be summoned or mounted once stabled.

Chocobos can be trained once an hour by giving them one of the following: Krakka Root, Curiel Root, Sylkis Bud, Mimett Gourd, Tantalplant, Pahsana Fruit, and Thavnairian Onion. Giving a max rank chocobo a Thavnairian onion after training will increase its maximum rank by one, up to a max of 20.

As the stable is used it will get dirty and must be cleaned by a magicked stable broom to ensure that training remains effective.

Chocobo Training will be added to the game with patch 2.3, which is set to go live next week.
