3D printing website Shapeways has found great success with its sales of a full set of 3D printed Final Fantasy VII figures, but that success caught the attention of publisher Square Enix who were not happy.
The publisher sent a cease and desist order to modeler Joaquin Baldwin to prevent further figure sales following their popularity boom thanks to Reddit. Both Baldwin and Shapeways complied and now the figures are no longer for sale, so if you managed to get them then well done you.
Baldwin told CNET, ”Standard procedure. Just like a video in YouTube using copyrighted music can be pulled down,” when asked about the notice.
