Square Enix Technology Director Joins Konami to Serve Same Function

Posted on October 7, 2013 AT 11:30am

Square Enix’s worldwide technology director Julien Merceron has left the company to serve in the same role at Konami, the company announced.

According to a press statement put out by Konami, Merceron started work at Konami on October 1, and is specifically lending his talents to further development of Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain as well as “Other Konami titles including soccer and baseball games.”

“Julien is lauded in the industry for his leadership in game design and development,” Konami president Tomoyuki Tsuboi said in the press release. “He will help us gain a technical edge in the highly competitive digital entertainment market through contributions to upcoming titles, making them more engaging and exciting for our customers.”

Merceron was with Square Enix for almost four years. Prior to that, he worked at Eidos as chief technology officer and climbed through the ranks at Ubisoft before that.
