SSX Not Quite Ready For The Slopes, Get Delayed

THE BUZZ: The bad news: EA’s new take on their classic snowboarding series SSX has officially been delayed. The good news: the delay isn’t huge. On the game’s official website, SSX creative director Todd Batty broke the bad news.
“I wanted to let you all know firsthand that we recently decided to take a couple of extra weeks to give our game the final bit of polish we think it deserves,” Batty announced. “This means that we won’t be shipping the game to you until Feb. 28 in North America and Mar. 2 in the rest of the world. We hope that given how long you have waited for SSX to come back, you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer.
“Over the course of more than 10 years of making games I have not worked on a single project where our team did not wish, coming down the home stretch, that we could have just a bit more time. Time to do all the little things that may not be noticeable during the first hour or two playing the game, but are appreciated over the course of days, weeks, months and beyond.”
EGM’s TAKE: In this era where so many developers and publishers push games out before they’re done—and then expect consumers to suffer while they’re fixed—I have no problem waiting a few extra weeks for a game. I’d rather the game I buy on launch day be a better product, versus getting it sooner but having to wait for one (or more) patches to hit to make it worth my time.
So, no hard feelings SSX team—take the extra time, and fix up whatever you need to fix up.
