New Star Wars Battlefront II details may have recently surfaced in an image and a behind-the-scenes video, potentially undercutting the game’s upcoming EA Play reveal.
The image, first posted to Reddit by user Some_Info, depicts what looks to be the multiplayer loadout screen for the game’s Heavy Trooper class—one of the four troop classes confirmed for the game. The screenshot is seemingly from an earlier build of the game, but its reveals that players will have access to three abilities called “cards,” similar to the Star Cards of the previous game. It also suggests that players can modify their weapons from the same screen.
The Reddit user preceded the image with a description of some new content for the game, as well as details regarding its presence at this year’s EA Play event. The event will purportedly feature two demos: one from the single-player campaign and one from the multiplayer. The multiplayer demo, the Reddit user claims, will be similar to the previous installment’s Walker Assault, only with a Multi-Troop Transport instead of an AT-AT. It will also be set on Naboo, according to the user.
Other new Star Wars Battlefront II multiplayer details the Reddit user describes include a limit of two hero characters active per side, a multidirectional combat roll (unclear if this is for all troopers or just one class), and a new shield design to replace the bubble shield. Some of the user’s information has already been confirmed for the game, and nothing they describe sounds unbelievable, but their lack of a source suggests that readers should remain skeptical for the time being.
Finally, a video seems to have leaked from the game’s EA Play 2017 presentation, picked up by YouTuber Unreal SjS. The video appears to include a first look at single-player gameplay from the shooter, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at Emperor Palpatine animations, combat motion capture, and more.
Star Wars Battlefront II is slated to launch November 17th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For everything else we know about the game, or still want to, check out EGM’s complete guide to Star Wars Battlefront II.
