Star Wars Battlefront

The Star Wars Battlefront II beta will let players test out the game a full month before launch.

As EA revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the Star Wars Battlefront II beta will kick off in early October. If you pre-order the game, you can start playing on October 4th. If you’d rather test the game before you buy, then you can jump in when the beta opens to the public on October 6th. In both cases, the beta will wrap up on October 9th.

So, what will you see when you sign in to the beta? There will be two different modes available to play: Galactic Assault on Naboo and a Multiplayer Starfighter Assault. In the former, you’ll join either the Separatist droid army or the Republic Clones for a massive 40 player melee set on the streets of Theed. You’ll be able to choose from four different classes: assault troopers, heavy troopers, officers, and specialists.

EA won’t reveal the details of Starfighter Assault until this year’s Gamescom (which takes place in August), but the blog post describes it as an “epic starfighter assault set during the original trilogy era, [where players will pilot] an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships in an objective-based, multi-stage battle.”

Star Wars Battlefront II launches in full on November 17th. It will be playable on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
