Star Wars Battlefront

The classic Star Wars: Episode I Racer has found new life through a PC re-release on GOG.

Star Wars: Episode I Racer originally launched for the N64 in 1999, making it a whopping 19 years old. The game will run at 60 fps and 1080p resolution through GOG, although playing it at an aspect ration any larger than its original 4×3 format will stretch it. It is not a remake or remaster, as one can tell from the following screenshots.

The game can be enjoyed through LAN multiplayer with up to eight players. Unfortunately, there is no option for online play.

Star Wars: Episode I Racer was added to GOG as part of the May the 4th Star Wars celebration, along with several other classic Star Wars games. The game’s standard price is $10, but fans can pick it up for $8.49 due to the holiday sale, which ends on May 8th.

GOG is not the only gaming retailer celebrating May the 4th. Numerous Star Wars games have been discounted on the PlayStation Store in honor of the holiday, most notably, Star Wars Battlefront II.
