According to a source of Kotaku’s, Star Wars: First Assault, an XBLA title for which artwork was discovered on Xbox.com last October, would be “step zero” in developing Star Wars: Battlefront 3.

Kotaku reports that First Assault is a multiplayer shooter that supports up to 16 players. Eight rebels would go toe-to-toe with eight Stormtroopers, battling on well-known Star Wars worlds such as Tatooine.

The Kotaku source claims that the XBLA shooter’s success could lead to a new Battlefront title, which would be built using First Assasult’s code. Unfortunately, because of Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm and Star Wars, the fate of First Assaultand Battlefront 3 with itare up in the air.
