Star Wars Galaxies Officially Shuts Down

THE BUZZ: After eight years in service, Sony Online Entertainment has officially closed the doors its MMO Star Wars Galaxies.

In the final celebrations the developers sent out X-Wings, giant enemies and a nice fireworks display before turning the lights out one last time. ”On behalf of the Star Wars Galaxies team, thank you. We have truly enjoyed getting to know you – our dedicated players – over the years. From in-game events to Fan Faires, we appreciate your continued loyalty and support. It would not have been possible without you,” said SOE.

EGM’s TAKE: Galaxies death was an inevitability with The Old Republic beginning early access a few days ago and launching on the 20th of this month.
