A broken protection mechanic allowed Imperials to camp inside the Republic base on Ilum, effectively trapping opponents inside and repeatedly killing them for Valor points. BioWare said, ”Our intended design for Ilum Open World PvP is that players are instantly killed when entering the enemy’s base safe area, just like in Warzones, and that the defending faction can take taxis to other points within the zone.”
EGM’s TAKE: This was a desperately needed fix for the game after patch 1.1 created this issue. BioWare claimed the patch would rectify other issues with the open world PVP, but sadly it just made things worse. Hopefully now that the emergency patch has been implemented things will calm down. Another problem that arises from this is the the farming of Valor for kills. Some people gained several levels from just spawn killing Republic players and turrets. BioWare has announced that they are, ”definitely aware of individuals who took extreme advantage of this situation and will be carefully evaluating and taking action as necessary,” which is good to hear. The team also addressed another issue with Ilum: the frame rate. Dropping the number in each instance should allow for smoother gameplay, an appreciated measure since in its current form it’s practically unplayable due to lag.
