THE BUZZ: BioWare has officially announced game update 1.2 for Star Wars: The Old Republic, known as Legacy.

The update will release at some point in April and will introduce the first stage of the Legacy system. This allows gamers to link their charatcers via a family tree. Doing so unlocks abilities, character species and mailbox and Galactic Trade Network terminals for player ships.

Legacy will also bring a new group Flashpoint, Operation and Warzone.

The Flashpoint, “Lost Island,” continues the Kaon Under Siege Flashpoint story from Rise of the Rakghouls.

The Operation, “Explosive Conflict,” takes place on the new planet of Denova.

Finally the new Warzone is called “Novare Coast,” where two teams battle over mortar locations and use them to bomb bases. Similar to Hutball same factions can fight against one another.

Game update 1.2 also brings PVP Warzone Rankings, Guild Banks and UI customization, new gear and much more.

EGM’s TAKE: Wow! Considering this is a free update there is a massive amount of content. BioWare is really pushing the boat out to please its fans after some rocky stages with PVP and various bugs. We’re really excited to try out the new Warzone and check out what new gear will be made available. We’re not too fussed about UI customization, but a lot of fans have been requesting it since day-one, so they will all be incredibly happy. We’ll have to wait until the patch notes become available to find out more details.
